23.25 x 59.25in(Triptych)

“Untitled Unmade” is a screen printed triptych on handmade, dyed paper. The image is a digital collage of the CSX A-Line Bridge and Richmond City. The project was done in collaboration with Shayla Pham (website link), as part of an Undergraduate Research Grant recieved from VCU.

Each copy is light sensitive, and loses color over time. Thirty-Four prints were made in total, with the amazing equipment used at Studio23 in Richmond. Copies were printed in brown and gray, as well as one multicolored print.

An open reception was held on May 16th, 2022 at Pump House Park, in which sections of triptychs were broken off and given away for free to passerbys.

“On the Cult of Books ”

2021

April-May 2021
Materials:
Laser-engraved
leather

Vellum

Scrap cloth

2.25 x 3.25 in

“On the Cult of Books” is a project based on the recirculation of Jorge Luis Borges’ 19th century manifesto of the same name. Linked below, the text discusses the philosophy of writing, reading, and uses allegory in books to take meaning in life.

The “recirculated” element comes in the design and packaging. The text lives in a leather bound, laser engraved cover, delicately printed on vellum. The book’s function is to attract an eager reader, appearing similar, but slightly different than other books around it.

“Land and Other Considerations”

2020

October-November 2020
Materials:
Laser-engraved Plywood

7 x 8.5 x 6in

“Land and Other Considerations” is a publication turned birdhouse. Starting first as an idea for a sustainable publication, this project came to life as a functional birdhouse. How can we make products that promote better methods of “print”? How can items be reused?

Handmade Paper Practice

2021-

Fall 2021-
Materials: Handmade Paper

Beeswax

One of my personal practices is making paper. I’m constantly experimenting with new techniques and paper compositions. Some current examples include beeswax paper weavings, molded paper, and turmeric-dyed paper.

The medium is very transformative, able to be much more than just a template for art to sit on. After paper is pulled with a screen it has to dry, during this time I take the wet pulp and mold it onto objects, resulting in a delicate paper cast of the form.
